Cedar Valley Recovery Services is proud to be the only Prime for Life provider in the state of Iowa.  Prime for Life is a Solutions-Based approach to addiction and recovery developed by Prevention Research Institute.

Level 0.5 Early Intervention

CVRS provides Level 0.5 Early Intervention Education.  Early Intervention Education is designed to help the individual identify risk factors for substance abuse and explore how these risk factors can and do impact their life.  Early Intervention Education also helps the individual recognize the harmful effects of substance abuse.  Early Intervention Education is generally two or three sessions with a counselor in addition to homework assignments.  The exact number of sessions is determined by the individual’s ability to successfully progress through treatment.

Level 1 Extended Outpatient

CVRS also provides Level 1 Extended Outpatient Education.  Level I Outpatient Counseling is a higher level of care than Level 0.5 early Intervention, and a lower level of care than Level II.1 Intensive Outpatient.  Level I services are individualized to the client’s severity of substance abuse and aims to change the client’s substance related behaviors.  Level I education addresses major changes in lifestyle and behaviors that might undermine treatment goals.

Length of Level I services vary depending:
-the client’s ability to comprehend the information provided and change substance related behaviors; and/or
-the appearance of new problems and the continuation of the current problem that warrants a higher level of care.

Level II.1 Intensive Outpatient

For those needing a higher level of care than Level 0.5 or Level 1, CVRS offers Intensive Outpatient treatment (IOP).  IOP consists of three (3) group sessions per week for six (6) weeks, as well as three (3) individual sessions throughout the course of the six weeks.  Meetings consist of education about substance abuse and related mental health issues; seminars by contracted professionals; and group therapy.  Education material is obtained from Prevention Research Institute’s Prime for Life series and is solution-based.
